Music is their soap box, message is what drives them. Jenesia is quickly becoming one of the most emotion-evoking, story-telling pop groups to ever rise out of Western Canada. Their pop musicality is coloured by soulful blues guitar and a hint of jazz. Combining elements of rock and folk, their diverse influences range from John Mayer, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin and The Civil Wars. Since forming in 2015, Jenesia has played over 300 live shows across Western Canada. Their seasoned stage presence shines through their captivating studio recordings. The passion goes far beyond making hit songs: Jenesia writes to encourage and inspire others towards justice. After surviving nearly a decade of childhood sexual abuse, Jenesia’s Alexander David aims to bring awareness to the growing epidemic. Their catchy melodies and skillful musical instrumentation make them the voice for the voiceless. Jenesia is the pop group that the world needs to hear.
Vanessa's passion for music began when she was just a young girl. Singing soprano in her school choir, she knew that music was something she wanted to pursue. She began piano lessons at the age of eight, picked up the acoustic guitar at eighteen, and now calls herself a multi-instrumentalist. Growing up listening to the classics in her father's record collection gave Vanessa a solid foundation, but it wasn't until her early twenties that she discovered her true love in soul music.
Free-spirited and gregarious in nature and armed with smoky, soulful vocals, Vanessa exudes character and energy both on and off stage. Intent on engaging and connecting with audiences, she leaves listeners with open hearts and minds as she journeys through honest, endearing performances.
Lauren Marie is an Edmonton-based r&b/pop vocalists with a unique sound and a passion for performing and composing. Lauren Marie has performed at several fundraisers and events including Edmonton's Pride Festival. Her hope is to continue to share her music, and to take the stage as often as she can!
